New Views on Polarization Microscopy

INTRODUCTION: For studying living organisms it is often desirable to clearly image molecular and higher level architecture without using exogenous markers such as dyes or fluorescent labels. Traditionally, the polarized light microscope has been a versatile tool to reveal the optical anisotropy such as birefringence of molecular fine structure of transparent specimens at high temporal and spatial resolution.
